What to Expect On Eval Day.
What To Expect On Eval Day.
Your athlete is about to go through Coach Tim's Athletic Performance Profiling Protocol. This is the same level of testing used at the elite athletic level. Here is exactly what is happening, what we are measuring and what you should watch for.
Performance Specialist · CDS Founder
Three Layers Of Athletic Truth
Most evaluations measure one thing. Maybe two. The CDS protocol stacks three different testing layers · field performance, biometric output and neuromuscular balance. Each layer reveals something the others cannot.
Performative Field Test
The combine-style metrics that translate directly to game performance. Speed, explosiveness, change of direction and lateral agility under real-world conditions.
- Explosive starts · acceleration off the line
- Lower body explosive power · vertical force production
- Horizontal force production · ground-to-distance translation
- Pro agility change of direction quickness
- Multidirectional agility · multi-directional movement
Biological Output Testing
The same technology used by NFL combine, NBA and elite Division I programs. VALD force plates measure exactly how much force your athlete produces, how fast and how efficiently.
- Maximum power output · total system capacity
- Peak power · highest single-rep output
- Power relative to body weight · efficiency at scale
- Reactive Strength Index (RSI) · explosive elasticity
- Braking impulse · deceleration capability
- Vertical force production output · vertical force profile
- Real-time data · captured to the millisecond
Asymmetric Neuromuscular Testing
Most athletes have one side stronger than the other. Untreated asymmetries quietly become injury risks and performance ceilings. The threshold matters · when Coach Tim sees a 15% discrepancy or greater, that is the line where injury risk becomes a real concern. We measure the gap. We identify what to correct.
- Left vs right force comparison
- Single leg stability
- Asymmetry percentage scoring
- Movement compensation patterns
- Injury reduction
- Return to play insights
- Performance ceiling identification
What To Watch For
You will be there during the evaluation. Here is what makes a parent an informed observer instead of a passive bystander · the things that tell you something about your athlete in real time.
Acceleration is the most game-translatable trait. Watch how quickly your athlete reaches top speed in the first 10 yards · this is where games are won.
When they jump and land, watch their hips, knees and feet. Imbalances on landing are the same imbalances we measure on the force plate. Your eyes can confirm what the data shows.
Mental performance shows up in the small moments. Are they composed between attempts? Do they fix their own mistakes? This tells us as much as the physical numbers.
Watch their willingness to push to true maximum on tests. Athletes who hold back during evaluations also hold back in games. We coach them through this in real time.
Confidence shows in the eyes. Watch where they look right before a max-effort attempt. This is the first observable signal of competitive mindset.
Listen for the cues Coach Tim gives in real time. The corrections you hear today are the same corrections that will show up in their training plan moving forward.
From Evaluation To Insights
The eval is the start, not the end. Here is the sequence of what you will receive in the days following the evaluation.
Your athlete completes the full 3-layer protocol. All data is captured live during the session. Coach Tim takes detailed observation notes throughout.
You will receive a digital APP Snapshot summarizing your athlete's key numbers across all three testing layers · field performance, VALD output and neuromuscular balance. This is the fast read on what we found.
The complete CDS Athletic Performance Lab Report · the deeper analysis with metric-by-metric breakdown, sport-specific context, gap identification and Coach Tim's full evaluation in writing. This becomes your athlete's official baseline.
Optional follow-up conversation with Coach Tim to review findings, answer questions and map next steps. The data only matters if it leads to action.
Why This Evaluation Is Different
Most local performance gyms run generic evaluations because they do not have the credentials, the equipment or the methodology. Coach Tim does. Here is what makes the CDS standard different.
Atlanta Falcons. Coach Tim has been on the field at the highest level. He coaches from experience, not theory.
Alcorn State University. The scientific foundation behind every recommendation. The science is real.
Thousands of athletes developed. From middle school to recruitment to college rosters. Real outcomes, not promises.
VALD force plates. The same technology used at the NFL combine, in the NBA and at top Division I programs.
